Laurie Allmann is an environmental writer and spoken word artist with a keen interest in bridging the gap between the scientific community and the general public. She was the recipient of a Minnesota Book Award for Far from Tame: Reflections from the Heart of a Continent (University of Minnesota Press); was a member of the writing team for the public television documentary series Minnesota: A History of the Land, and was a regularly featured essayist-commentator for Minnesota Public Radio’s Voices from the Heartland series. She is currently on the staff of the Women’s Environmental Institute, where she serves as community liaison and writer in residence.
