Learn the basic principles for operating a production greenhouse, including an overview of soil systems and fertilizers, crop selection, water management, ventilation, and more. Students will tour both Wayne’s Greenhouses and Garden Center in the morning session. In the afternoon, we will convene at WEI’s Amador Hill Farm hoop houses to learn about seeding trays and WEI’s hoop house production.

Students will meet you at Wayne’s Greenhouse & Garden Center in Stacy, MN. Wayne will conduct a tour of his greenhouse operation. The tour will cover his operation and specifically the operations and management of a green house. The key elements he will cover include types of soil systems, different crops grown in greenhouses based on students input, water management, fertilizer, venting concerns. Wayne will also cover production concerns in the operation of your green house. The class will move to WEI’s Amador Hill Farm just a few miles away to conclude with a tour of the WEI greenhouse, short workshop on seeding techniques, and overview of WEI’s hoop house operation.
