Course Description:
Anyone can learn how to knit! Techniques for beginner and beyond will be covered: choosing appropriate yarn and needles, making a gauge, casting on, casting off, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, stockinet stitch and garter stitch. Each student will go home with the start of a knit washcloth and instructions on how to finish the project at home.

What to Bring:

  • Straight Bamboo Knitting Needles – Size 8
  • 1 Skein of cotton yard = 100 yards

About the Instructor:
Maggie Whitman is a fiber artist from Minneapolis, MN.  She comes from a family of talented women quilters, tailors, embroiderers, and crocheters who learned these skills as a matter of necessity.  Maggie enjoys designing and knitting modern knit patters and sharing her love of knitting with others.   She has also worked in spinning yarn and drying with natural materials.
